Hocus pocus

The phrase "hocus pocus" originally comes from Latin and is based on an acoustic misunderstanding that arose in the 17th century within the hierarchy between the educated and the common people. Since then, the Magic words  Hocus pocus  often used by magicians.  

Just like the magic spell, the expectation of scholars' magical abilities has persisted. And so, even today, it is still common to project unspoken expectations onto the outside world, as in the following examples:

"Why can't someone from the outside switch off my mind and the constant mental chatter? Why isn't there someone outside who can consistently open my heart? Why can't someone outside awaken or sharpen my focus on intuition and gut feeling? – Why do we have to do all this for ourselves?" – the answer is simple:

Neither the heart, intuition, nor common sense are absolute – they are always in complex interaction with each other.  

Each person listens to their own inner voice and perceives anew from moment to moment whether the current interplay within their inner nature corresponds to a struggle, a withdrawal, an escape, or resignation, or to a harmonious dynamic or coherence. In a retreat, mentoring session, or in everyday encounters, we can learn something helpful, exciting, or enlightening. And then each person needs their own inner work to integrate this "input" about coherence into all levels of being (body, mind, and soul). Therefore, no one can do this for us with "hocus pocus."

For example, it doesn't do us much good if someone opens their heart wide to us, but we, perceiving through rose-colored glasses, ignore intuition and common sense.

Meditation fosters an awareness of inner coherence, which is why it is so complex and multifaceted. With regular practice, meditation gradually becomes more and more a part of everyday life: The harmonious feeling of inner coherence is the foundation for celebrating moments with full enjoyment.
