JUNGLE CARE
Share
Dear SONQO Community,
Have you ever held a cup of cacao and wondered: Where did you come from? What rivers have you crossed to reach my hands this morning?
The answer is more extraordinary than you might imagine.
The Journey of a Single Bean
Before it became the warm, heart-opening drink in your hands, this cacao was a tiny flower in the Peruvian Amazon. It was pollinated by a specific species of midge – a fly so small you might never notice it. It grew inside a pod, nested among hundreds of others, high on the trunk of an ancient tree.
That tree stood in a forest that was not a plantation. It was a living ecosystem – a jungle where cacao grows in the company of banana trees, medicinal plants, birds, insects, and the invisible network of mycorrhizal fungi connecting root to root.
The families who harvested this cacao did not rush. They walked the forest paths their grandparents walked, carrying the knowledge of generations. They opened each pod by hand, fermented the beans under the open sky, dried them in the sun that warms us all.
This is what your cup makes possible.
The Circle That Holds Us
When you choose ceremonial cacao from SONQO, you are not simply buying a product. You are participating in a circle.
You honor the farmers who tend these ancient trees with dignity and care. You protect the biodiversity of the jungle, because these cacao forests are preserved, not cleared. You support the regeneration of 110 hectares in Pucallpa, where burnt land is being transformed into thriving food forests through syntropic agriculture. You help fund the education of local families, the exchange of knowledge between Cusco and Pucallpa, the living culture of reciprocity.
This is Jungle Care. Not as a distant concept. As a daily, embodied reality made possible by your simple choice.
To Know More Is to Love More
We believe that the deeper you understand your cacao – its origin, its journey, the hands that carried it – the more meaningful your practice becomes. This is why we created the Cacao Course.
Not just a workshop. A living transmission.
In this course, you will learn the ancestral methods of preparing ceremonial cacao, understand the difference between wild Chuncho and hybrid varieties, discover how to hold space for yourself and others in ceremony, and deepen your connection to the spirit of the plant and the land it comes from.
You will taste the difference between cacao that is merely consumed and cacao that is known.
Two Opportunities to Deepen
We invite you to join us for the Cacao Course at two special locations.
June 18–21, 2026 – Buddhas Weg, Weinheim, Germany
A sacred space in nature, dedicated to practice and presence.
September 24–27, 2026 – St. Gallen, Switzerland
In the heart of Swiss tranquility, a container for deep learning and connection.
Both courses are led with the same intention: to help you become not just a drinker of cacao, but a guardian of its wisdom. To show you, directly, what your cup makes possible – not only in the world, but in your own heart.
What Your Cup Makes Possible
When you drink SONQO cacao, you are keeping ancient Chuncho genetics alive, regenerating forest and soil in the Peruvian Amazon, supporting families who choose dignity over exploitation, funding the exchange of knowledge between indigenous communities, and participating in a circular economy that creates only winners.
And you are also, quietly, nourishing your own soul. Opening your own heart. Planting your own seeds.
This is the miracle of Jungle Care: that caring for the jungle and caring for yourself are not separate acts. They are the same circle. The same breath. The same Munay.
