Singing Eastern mantras has become popular in this country. Many people appreciate the peaceful power of these ancient syllables. It's less about their meaning and more about the vibrations they evoke when actively spoken or sung. Did you know that Quechua is also full of mantras?
Quechua is still spoken in Peru today. In the Andes, there are still many communities who speak or understand only Quechua and not Spanish. On the one hand, the language barrier is significant for them, making integration into the modern world difficult; on the other hand, they are the guardians of this ancient culture. This is invaluable.
SONQO means HEART in Quechua. When the mind grasps the meaning, romantic images immediately arise. But let go of all those images, say SONQO aloud, and feel the sound of the mantra! Sense and feel the clarity and consistency that resonates in the sound of SONQO. Repeat the syllables aloud. Can you perceive in the sound the clearly focused power that moves into space and into the cosmos?
MUNAY is also an important key term in the Quechua language. MU is the affirmation of a deep desire that transcends the needs of a single individual. NAY refers to an intrinsic will or an active desire. Spoken together, MUNAY signifies the beauty of unconditionally flowing love.
But what does "unconditional" truly mean in this context? Unconditional doesn't mean accepting and tolerating all actions. If actions, statements, or even ways of thinking are not unifying and don't lead to unity, then it takes courage and civic courage to draw attention to this. But the Andean people follow the experience that what helps the destructively acting person or group is not exposure and punishment, but rather MUNAY: remembering and reconnecting to the all-connecting love that is not directed at anyone or anything, but flows like the wind that refreshes the entire cosmos every moment.
Munay meditation helps us, especially in challenging situations or more intense phases of life, to keep the beauty and power of freely flowing love in focus and to consciously perceive it again and again: then it also becomes easier to recognize where worldly stories stand in the way of the free flow and where learned or conditioned knowledge blocks love.
Munay meditation always begins with ourselves: we observe the breath through the nose, then our skeletal structure, our organs, and the entire physical body as the first important unit ( BODY ). The observation then moves to our relationship with our parents, family, and other social connections, up to the unity of humanity ( HEART = SONQO ). From there, the observation continues to the animal and plant kingdoms: what classifications has the mind learned? And how do I experience all these connections from the flow of love when stories and knowledge are released? Finally, the observation extends to oneness with a single cosmos ( SOUL ).
Munay is the heartbeat of the universe, allowing body, heart and soul to experience harmonious unity.
